Foreshore and Seabed Hikoi 2004

Over 25000 people marched on Parliament to protest against the Labour Governments refusal to follow due process. The biggest, best organised and most peaceful march I've ever seen in Wellington. A day to remember!

Te Mare Hahipene, Taupo

"I was there at the hikoi and so proud to be there!!  I came down from Taupo with Tuwharetoa and I cried coming into Wellington when I saw all our people, buses, cars and so forth going into Wgtn.  Even now when I talk about it I still cry.  It was one of the most momentous moments of my life and an event I was proud to be at and part of.  It is something I can tell my mokos about in years to come and would love a photo of the event so that I can show them where their kuia stood in all of this. (I'm not quite a kuia yet but will be soon).  May our tipuna look over and after all of us as I'm sure they are."

This panorama was taken from the centre of Lambton Quay and Bowen St. Shot on B&W film it shows the lead group led by Pita Sharples coming through.

Have a look at the enlarged section of the group here, quite inspiring!
